See the doctor - get sick. Makes sense!

As I mentioned on Wednesday, I recieved a TDAP (Tetnus, diptheria and pertussis) injection on Wednesday, and I now I am having many side affects, including:
  • soreness
  • fever
  • headache
  • not feeling well
  • feeling tired
  • swollen lymph nodes.
I did not make it to work Friday and called the clinic to speak to a nurse. She indicated that, yes indeed I will feel sore in my arm and it will be part of the deal. She didn't think that my tiredness would have to do with the shot, so encouraged me to watch it this weekend and call back if symptoms get worse. She felt this should go away after 'some time'. (She was pretty generic with her advice, and didn't give me any solutions for pain relief.) The Internet at least indicate that Ibuprophen and warm towels might help, but also didn't give a timeline for the symptoms.

I don't mind having the symptoms, (other than missing a day of work is not good), but would like to know that they will go away and I will be ok.

The other thought I had was that a doctors clinic is perhaps one of the most germ-ridden place on earth. Sick people go there and cough and bleed and all other nasty stuff that a non-sick person can end up becoming ill from being in contact. Ok, this is rather paranoid, but my tiredness and fever could be a side affect of just seeing the doctor.

That being said, I haven't worked out Friday/Saturday. I am sleeping and drinking water and catching up with my movie watching. I am going to watch Groundhog Day, Gangs of New York and maybe Vertigo.

wish me well,

Chazz.

I love "Groundhog Day". I hope you are feeling better soon. I feel the same way about doctor's offices, hospitals, etc. The more I go the sicker I feel.

Paranoid? I think not. Where else would you find a better collection of germs? When I go to the doctor's I don't touch anything. I even bring my own magazines. Even so I make an effort to not touch my face while there. After I see the doctor I use the restroom to wash my hands thoroughly and use paper towels to turn off the water and to touch the doorknobs as I rush out into the clean outside world. Sounds crazy but I don't get sick afterwards.

I know it's a pain but it beats tetanus.

Hope you're feeling better.
