Where did this month go? This is embarrassing...

Motivation:

"Before you can win, you have to believe you are worthy." ~Mike Ditka

If I can get the picture to load, I will post the current look of Chazz - hanging out with a good friend from a former job. This is a good view of the "before" picture, before I start the 2nd half of the F25K challenge. It will be interesting to see the "after" picture in a few months.

Diary:

So this week - no training workouts, followed the eating program for 1 day, but the rest of the week became a slow slide to mediocrity.

It is hard to even write it, as this has been a stress-filled failure.

Yesterday, I got an email from Men's Health magazine. Simply titled "Can you make a commitment? - Finish what you started!" Ha!. That was a call to arms, and a shot to the heart. What the heck do you think you have been doing all month. Get up and do something....

In all reality, this has been a pretty stressful month at work, with finances, trying to find someone to rent my 2nd bedroom, and looking around for jobs, and trying to start a side job that could be fun, but has been a lot of busywork so far. I assume that my big client has extended my contract, but I still have not formally been told. Since today is the last day of the month, this may be an interesting day.

I will have to ask the director there if I should show up on Monday, or if this is the end of our relationship.

Oh, and Saturday is another weigh - in and measurement day. (Already? It seems so soon, but alas I have wasted the time that I was given. It is a big dissapointment... ) The results will be not too good....

Notes:

After reading the "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle", Tom Venuto spoke about personality types and the needs and routines of different people. He indicates there are the following:

Ectomorphs are naturally lean and usually never have trouble with excess body fat during
their entire lives.

Mesomorphs are typical natural-born athletes and bodybuilders.

The endomorph
Most people who are working hard but still struggling to lose body fat are
endomorphs. An endomorph is someone with a slow metabolism who is genetically prone
to store fat easily. Endomorphs are usually, but not always, large framed with medium to
large joints.

While some genetically gifted mesomorphs and ectomorphs can eat whatever they
want and never gain any fat, the endomorph must eat clean and healthy almost all the
time. This requires the development of high levels of nutritional discipline. Endomorphs
are the types who will tend to gain body fat very quickly if they eat too much or if they eat
the wrong types of foods.
Endomorphs cannot “cheat” frequently and get away with it. Their metabolisms
are extremely unforgiving. One or two cheat meals per week seem to be the limit. Poor
daily nutrition habits or frequent cheat days always set them back.

Endomorphs need a larger quantity of cardio to lose body fat. Most endomorphs will lose
fat with surprising ease by doing some type of cardio at least 4 – 5 times per week.
Extreme endomorphs usually need cardio every day (seven days per week). All
endomorphs will tend to gain the fat back if they stop doing cardio completely. Often,
they successfully lose weight, but then put it back on if they havenÂ’t made the
commitment to continue exercising for life.

The best strategy for the endomorph is to get active and stay active! You have to get
moving! Take up some sports or recreational activities in addition to your regular
workouts in the gym. If youÂ’re an endomorph you should get some type of activity almost
every day.

Endomorphs must commit to a lifelong exercise program and avoid quick fixes or any
short-term approach to fitness. After reaching the long term ultimate body fat and body
weight goal, the endomorph needs to commit to at least three days a week of exercise -
for life – to keep the fat off. This should be done for health reasons anyway, but for the
endomorph, exercise is essential to maintain a desirable body fat ratio. Once you begin,
you must keep going or you will lose your momentum. Every time you stop working out,
you can be sure the body fat will slowly start to creep back on. Long “vacations” from
physical activity are not a good idea. Get your momentum going and keep it going.

Endomorphs have very unforgiving metabolisms. They cannot “cheat” frequently and get
away with it. One or two cheat meals per week seem to be the limit. Poor daily habits or
frequent cheat days always seem to set them back. Cheat days should be reserved for
special occasions or as well-deserved rewards for a week of great training and nutrition.

I feel very much like a pure endomorph, and this month was a complete proof of this. The worse I eat, the less I workout, the more strdisappointedssapointed I get, which causes me to feel bad about my condition, which results in me eating poorly and not going to the gym. This downward spiral basically took the whole month of June right out from under me.

So? July, baby. Tonight I will FINALLY finish my LeanForLife weekly meal plan and weekly shopping list. Getting that done will actually relieve a bit of stress so I can be planned out and ready to 'just follow the plan' and not have to overthink things.

For those of you who tell me that you look forward to reading the blog every morning, stay tuned for new notes in July, as the F25K training restarts - big and bad.

more later,

Chazz

Glad to know you are back in the program and going to be updating your blog. I look forward to reading it everyday. I would think that blogging is very much like your weight loss program and that they lend well to each other. The more you do it, the more you are committed. I also think it is a way to hold yourself accountable and has been in previous blogs. You write it, read it and act on it. Keep on it, September is around the corner!
