Motivation of the day:
It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan. - Elenore Roosevelt
Well yesterday I was reminded of the challenge I have with MikeW that ends on March 17, 2006. The bet was I would weigh 424 or less on 3/17. If I make my bet, then I get Twins Tickets..
That means I need to lose 46lbs in 60 days. I can do it, possibly, but will be a bit of work. Here we go...
Today, I went 15 minutes on elliptical machine, and walked for about a mile. I feel pretty good about that workout. Today is a regular meal schedule. This weekend will be difficult to keep up, due to my commitment to the team that I am on for the men's retreat. I am planning on working most of the day, and not getting much sleep. My eating patterns may be off, but I will be getting lots of excercise by working around all weekend.
That is all.
Questions / Remarks from readers:
One reader had problems with my list of choices when out and about.
- The calories in a chicken wings are mostly an unhealthy fat held onto a bony shape.
- The calories in a baked potato are mostly high glycemic carbohydrate.
- The last two choices will do very little to contribute to health even though they all have about the same calories.
I don't really know how to respond to these items. The list is for ongoing situations where I need to make the best choice of what is possible. Looking over the menus at the various places, I made lists of what would be the best choices.
I simply can't assume that I am going to stop having a social life or travelling around or being in some place that I haven't prepared a meal. I don't plan on eating chicken wings all day every day, but looking at the menu, this is a safe choice that fits in with the genre of having a beer with friends at Applebees.
Or, if stuck on a road trip at Wendy's, do I order the Single Combo, or a Potato and Chili?
As for the baked potato, I have been reading that this may not be as bad of a choice.
Potato, baked with skin 4" x 2'" has 220 Calories, 4 grams protien, and 51 grams carbs, 0 grams fat. Is this better than, for example a Snickers bar: Calories: 280.00, Fat 14.00g,
Carbohydrate 35.00g, Protien 4.00g.
Ok, maybe they are pretty similar. I guess...
