"Success isn't something you chase. It's something you have to put forth the effort for constantly. Then maybe it'll come when you least expect it. Most people don't understand that." ~Michael Jordan

On the mp3 player today, Tom Petty:
Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down
Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down.
Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground and I won’t back down
This song felt pretty good, and I was running with it pretty well.
Couple things, I will make today's posting short.
1) Pray for my feet, if you want something to do. I have a cut on the bottom of my left foot that is killing me with each step. I am going to look for some skin repairing solution at the pharmacy. Also, my right foot is starting to ache, like an ankle pain. This is not constant, so I think it is just sore.
2) I spent yesterday re-organizing my living room. I moved most of the furniture, including my awefully heavy hide-a-bed couch. It all started becuase the DVD player I got from my brother-in-law for christmas '04 stopped working. I found out the cost of fixing it would be more than just purchasing a new one. So, I was looking around at Best Buy, and not really excited about the choices or the prices.
I had to stop at Ace Hardware to replace something in my kitchen, $3.00 item. On the way out, I saw a Home Theater system with DVD player for 1/2 the price of the same model at Best Buy. Not exactly sure what it was doing there, as I don't usually expect Ace to be selling electronics... So I decided there that I have been doing such a good job with my "2006 Challenge" that I deserve a reward. I bought it! When they scanned it, it was even $30 less than the sticker! Cool. So when I removed the old receiver unit, and started replacing the big speakers with the little speakers. I had so much stuff that was not needed, that I put all of it in the garage. The room looked funny after I moved out all the old electronic equipment, so I started to move the TV to the south wall, then I just kept moving things over and over again until I felt like it was right. (I still don't, by the way.)
I now have a lot of other items that I desire for this room. More comfortable places to sit, replace the coffee table with functional stools that can be used for sitting, or as short tables, etc. I am happy with the new surround sound system and I can watch DVD's again....
3) I got an email from my Wisconsin friend, lets call him Kurt, who will be running a 5K with me this fall as one of my big goals/big rewards. The 5K run is on October 7th, 2006 at 8am. I have found a 12-week training program for beginning runners, but this is a little advanced, so I am going to need some help. I found a "from couch-potato to runner training" plan that I am going to do before the 12-week training. So with the Oct 7 date as a target, I am going to start training on May 14th, 2006. That is only 11 weeks away, so I have really got to get moving to be ready to promote myself to "couch-potato". Is there a level below this? Maybe I should create a "from lethargic blob to couch-potato training" that I can do for the next 11 weeks..

I had a cut just beneath my big toe on left foot on Sat night. I put triple-antibiotic cream on it and put a bandaid on for one day..then I put lotion on all my foot before socks.
Soak your foot in epsom salts or baking soda in the water..then treat it like I did..Hope this helps. I put a clean bandaid and retreated it during the night.
